Context
Jesus tells a farm story to people who know crops can decide a family's whole year. The weed in this parable looks like wheat while it's young, so rushing to fix the field can wreck the very harvest you're trying to protect.
Story
A farmer plants good seed. Then an enemy slips in at night and scatters weeds through the same dirt, quiet sabotage with no warning.
Weeks later, the workers see both plants coming up together.
"didn't you plant good seed? Where'd all this junk come from?"
The farmer knows exactly what happened, but he does not send them sprinting into the field. The roots are tangled underground. Pull the weeds too early, and the wheat comes with them.
So he tells them to let both grow until harvest. Sorting will happen, just not on the workers' timeline.
What We Learn
Some cleanup can look like justice and still be impatience in a work outfit. Jesus is not asking us to pretend weeds are wheat; he is reminding us we are not the Lord of the harvest.
Keep growing good wheat in tangled dirt.
