Context
Jesus tells a parable where the hero is a manager who has been wasting a rich owner's money. He holds the contracts, collects debts, and knows the audit is about to take his keys.
Story
The owner calls him in and gives one cold sentence.
"What's this I'm hearing about you? Give me the books. You're done."
The manager realizes he has one short window before everyone knows he is fired. He cannot dig, will not beg, so he uses his last hour of authority to cut debts and make friends who might welcome him later.
Then the boss finds out, and the twist is that he is almost impressed. Jesus is not praising the scam. He is exposing how awake this man is to the fact that his position is temporary.
What We Learn
Most of us hold our keys like they are permanent: work, money, time, influence, people who answer when we call.
The question is not whether we can keep control forever. It is whether we will use what we still hold for what actually lasts.
🎧 That's the story — now hear it told.
