Context
John is exiled on Patmos when Revelation opens into heaven's throne room. In God's right hand is a scroll sealed seven times, carrying the ending of history and the answer to everything creation has been waiting on.
Story
A mighty angel asks who is worthy to open it, and every realm goes quiet. Heaven, earth, under the earth, nobody can step forward, so John starts weeping because if the scroll stays shut, justice stays delayed.
stop crying. Look. The Lion of Judah has conquered. He can open the scroll.
John turns expecting power with teeth and a mane. Instead, he sees a Lamb standing like it has been slain, wounded and still worthy. The throne room breaks into worship because heaven's champion is not the loudest or strongest one. It is the one who bled.
What We Learn
We spend so much life trying to prove we qualify: stronger, shinier, more credentialed, more put together. Revelation 5 shows a different kingdom math. Worthiness is not flexed there. It is carried in scars.
Heaven crowns the wounded Lamb.
